Okay, so this article is more a musing on life than on the body, but I believe it is still applicable to the goal of this blog... which is ponder life and the body, and work to improve both. So how can laundry be fun? That is a good question. Most of the time we think of laundry as a chore. And most of the time it does seem that way. Well this weekend (4th of July weekend) was really hot here in Seattle. As such, most folks probably didn't do too much outside. But I thought it the perfect opportunity to set up a clothes line for this summer and get some fresh air through our laundry. After getting the lines strung up, and bringing the wet laundry outside, I started hanging it on the line. My two year old daughter decided that she wanted to be my helper, and she handed me two clothespins for each piece of laundry. So that game for her was running back and forth to where the clothespins were, and counting out two of them each time. This simple pleasure for my daughter, of helping dad with laundry, and running around the backyard, became a simple pleasure for me. I enjoyed this little game, and the time spent with my daughter. In fact, doing the laundry was fun. If these are the pleasurable little things in life that can enrich us on a daily basis... how many of these little treasures do we typically miss? Life will be much more enjoyable if we keep ourselves open, and look at our daily lives from a different perspective on occasion.
